Pick A Door

The office

Process

Construction: The office set was built in a soundstage and featured several custom flats. In this image, the art and construction team paint the office floor.

Filming the office: The office’s main desk and blinds could be flown out to accommodate the camera. The large main window served as a second ‘door’ into the set.

Initial Design: The original office called for a claustrophobic room that would have three interviewers in a cramped room. As the script changed, so did the design. Designed in Sketchup, rendered in TwinMotion.

The Shrinking Office: In this clip, the office walls close in. Everything you see in this sequence was done practically using in-camera effects!

The Game Show

Process

Initial Design: The gameshow became more bold through preproduction, with the addition of the bright red doors. Designed in Sketchup, rendered in TwinMotion.

Lighting Concept: Done as a part of a lighting test with the director of photography. While the design would later be shifted towards the red doors, this initial lighting test (done in TwinMotion) led us down the more colorful route for the space’s design.

Pick A door.

About:

Iris is here for an interview. Iris is nervous.

So it shouldn’t surprise her that the office collapses. And her Superego and Id are here to help.

Iris has an interview for an accounting job that (while her mother might believe she needs) she’d rather not take. In fact, Iris would rather be an artist, dreaming up creative designs and expressing her true self. But she needs the money this job can provide.

As she goes through the internal debate of ‘money or happiness,' Iris is joined by her Superego (a manifestation of her confident and profit-driven self) and her Id (a manifestation of her creative and free self). As they try to guide her through the interview, they instead drive her to having a panic attack where she is transported from the office to a game show.

After being shown her possible futures, Iris has to make the ultimate decision to risk stability for creative freedom, or kill her Id once and for all.
